2 June: Milan celebrates the birth of the Republic with a mural

(ANSA) – MILANO, 02 DOWN – Milan celebrates the feast of the
Repubblica also with a mural dedicated to his birth
built in the suburb of the Ortica, thanks to
participatory art project Or.Me. – Nettle Memory,
sponsored by the Municipality of Milan. The work portrays the young and smiling face in the foreground
by Anna Iberti, the Milanese woman who became the symbol
of democratic Italy, which rejoices at the victory in
referendum of 2 June 1946. The photo-icon, taken by
Federico Patellani and preserved today at the Museum of
Contemporary photography by Cinisello Balsamo, it is the image that
was chosen by the Corriere della Sera for the first page that
announced the outcome of the referendum. In addition to Anna Iberti’s face, the
partisan relays and children: symbol of the bond
indissoluble between present and future. (ANSA).
