Italy red zone and orange zone, regions awaiting verdicts and ordinances on colors that will entail rules – on school, travel, visits to relatives, categories of shops – in force since 7 April, after the Easter bans and restrictions. From 3 to 5 April, there was a tightening for the whole country, which last Friday recorded a national Rt index of 1.08, a slight decrease in terms of incidence.
There are currently 11 regions, in addition to the autonomous province of Trento, in the red zone. And for many of these, the situation will remain unchanged even after Easter. For Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Puglia the data do not suggest changes. The same goes for Piedmont, despite the slight decrease in infections and the Rt index estimated below 1. The region governed by Alberto Cirio, meanwhile, has passed a restrictive order for Easter: closed supermarkets and a ban until 5 April to go to second homes for those who do not reside in Piedmont.
The monitoring of data and the indications of the control room today could however modify, even if marginally, the color map and determine passages from the red area to the orange one, or vice versa: the two colors, by virtue of the Covid decree just passed, will be the only ones to characterize the peninsula throughout April. A possible lightening of the measures is linked to the data on infections and vaccines: few cases and many doses are needed, in essence, to aim for a partial reopening.
Today, meanwhile, the regions await the votes. The Rt index will weigh and the incidence will weigh: 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants send a region to the red zone. Below this threshold we can hope for the orange zone and therefore in less stringent rules and measures, with the reopening of some categories of shops and the possibility of visiting another private house once a day in the same municipality (in the red zone from April 7 this will no longer be allowed under the new decree).
REGIONS, WHO HOPES AND WHO RISKS
Italy arrives at the appointment of the ‘report card’ on Friday after a day with 23,649 new positives and 501 deaths. The positivity index stands at 6.6%. Among the regions that aim to leave the red zone is Campania. The region governed by Vincenzo De Luca archived April 1 with 2,258 infections and 55 deaths included in the bulletin. Luca Zaia’s Veneto also wants promotion.
“The data in our possession say that the Rt index is 1.12. The incidence is at 226.8, therefore below the threshold of 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. We have 29% of hospitalizations in intensive care, below the threshold of 30 %. The admissions in the non-critical area are at 27%, the threshold is at 40%. If our projection is confirmed, tomorrow we hope that there will be a change of color “, explained the governor, however showing caution:” We are speaking of decimal variations. Minister Speranza also says ‘let’s wait’ “. The most recent data for the region refer to 1,633 infections and 28 deaths. In the last 24 hours 42,612 swabs were performed, the positivity rate is 3.83%.
Lazio hopes to stay in the orange zone. “Cases are increasing, while hospitalizations are stable and deaths and intensive care are decreasing. The ratio between positives and swabs is 10%, but if we also consider the antigenic the percentage is 4%. The cases in Rome city are high. 900 quota. Timid positive signs are the decrease in deaths and intensive care, but we must keep the attention high during the Easter holidays. The RT value is stable at 0.98 “, explained the councilor for health, Alessio D’Amato, photographing the current situation.
Finally, the ‘Sicily case’. The region was hit by the false data investigation and is now in danger of being demoted. The most recent picture includes 1,282 infections on 10,305 swabs with an incidence of 12%. There are 1039 hospitalized in hospitals.
