Rome, Raggi: on Saturday 3 April the Ponte della Magliana reopens

Scheduled for Saturday 3 April at 6.00 am the reopening to traffic of the Magliana Bridge in the carriageway towards central Rome after the completion of the third and final phase of the redevelopment works. The interventions on the roadway, on the expansion joints and the signage, coordinated by the Public Works Department, are in the final phase.

The operations on the structural part of the bridge were completed in recent weeks, all the safety barriers were replaced, the hydraulic network was upgraded with the waterproofing of the structure. The Capitol makes it known in a note. The works respected the initial time schedule, coordinated by the Simu Department of Roma Capitale, and carried out specifically in a period with lower traffic flows, due to the Covid-19 emergency and the current smart working regime.

“Finally, after decades, we are returning to Ponte della Magliana new functionality and greater safety, especially for thousands of citizens who travel through it every day to move to the southern quadrant of the city. We have chosen to carry out the works in these months of difficult coexistence with the virus to speed up operations and be ready to host important sporting events for Rome, first of all the Formula E – Prix starting in a few days and the European football championships in June ” , explains the mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi. “As promised, we were able to complete the redevelopment of the Ponte della Magliana respecting the time schedules, also in time for the Formula E race that our city will host on the weekend of 10 and 11 April. It has long been necessary for our city. In fact, complete maintenance of the bridge had not been carried out for many years, both on the structural part and on the roadway. Now, one of the most used infrastructures in the southern quadrant of the city is safer and more functional ”, explains Infrastructure Councilor Linda Meleo.
