For the first time after five weeks of increase, there is a reduction, albeit slight, of Covid cases for Piedmont. The positive percentage of the swabs is also slightly reduced (from 14.2% to 13.8%). The number of active outbreaks is growing, while new outbreaks and the number of people not connected to known transmission chains are decreasing.
The occupancy rate of the beds is further increasing, going from 55% to 59% for intensive care and from 61% to 66% for the medical area beds. Point Rt drops to 0.96 (was 1.17) and average Rt 0.98 (was 1.16). However, the incidence remains higher than 250 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, given that Piedmont is still in the red zone at least until 12 April.
Meanwhile, the President of the Region Alberto Cirio has signed an ordinance that introduces more restrictive measures on the occasion of the holidays. Supermarkets will have to close at 1pm on Easter day and for the whole day of Easter Monday. The closure applies to large sales structures whose surface area exceeds 1,500 square meters in municipalities with up to 10,000 inhabitants and 2,500 square meters in municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants. The closure also concerns the medium-sized sales structures, whose surface is between 151 and 1,500 square meters in municipalities with up to 10,000 inhabitants and with an area between 251 and 2,500 square meters in municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants.
IFurthermore, in Piedmont from midnight today (1 April) until Monday 5 April inclusive, it is forbidden to go to second homes for those who are not resident in the region.
“This measure obviously has the purpose of limiting gathering opportunities in these days of celebration – underlines President Cirio -, but with the desire to guarantee small neighborhood businesses that will be able to continue to offer the service and as a sign of respect to a moment of rest for the workers of large-scale distribution, who for a year with great dedication have also been guaranteeing an essential service for our communities ».
