The “Esc-Circular solidarity economy” project, an initiative funded by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, which sees the National Coordination of the Reception Community (Cnca) as the leader and as partner Cittadinanzattiva and Italian Coordination of accommodation homes for people with HIV / AIDS (Cica), has supported about twenty territorial experiences throughout Italy, which have experimented with different aspects of the circular economy: reuse and recycling, energy saving and alternative energies, responsible consumption, sharing of public goods. Many of the organizations involved handle confiscated assets. Various initiatives have also made some job placements. The territorial experiences were supported and monitored by a national control room, which played the role of technical assistance staff.
Three publications have been produced, all available online for free: a Documentary Dossier that contains a considerable amount of materials on the Circular Economy and the Circular Solidarity Economy, from theoretical insights to information on documents, laws and reference standards and on experiences and existing networks; a Vademecum aimed at citizens, to make known and spread the words and terms, more or less widespread, used when talking about circular solidarity economy, economic and environmental sustainability, with a look towards social issues and inclusion the Guidelines for the circular solidarity economy, aimed above all at operators and social organizations, to help them innovate in the direction of environmental sustainability. A guide that, proceeding by cards, contains concrete indications for modifying the behavior and practices of one’s organization with regard to energy consumption, the use of natural resources, the production of waste. The text also proposes a reflection on the social aspects that organizations should preserve, through the analysis of some political-normative sources considered essential points of reference.
A particularly important action of the project was that aimed at “defining and testing a social impact assessment model, built with the organizations involved and implemented on an online platform for data collection and processing”.
The project also took care of the organization of numerous training meetings on topics such as energy community, sustainable mobility, the fight against food waste, reuse and recycling of materials, social agriculture, the four Rs of waste, the socio-labor inclusion of migrants. .
Esc organized the first online festival entirely dedicated to circular solidarity economy, last April, in which contributions from experts, thematic workshops, stories of different realities and direct testimonies of the beneficiaries of social and professional inclusion paths alternated.
