Climate, China: “We seriously consider invitation to US summit” – Foreign
Beijing – La China is “seriously considering” the participation in the two-day virtual climate summit starting on 22 April, scheduled to be hosted by the president of the United States Joe Biden. “We are willing to continue to strengthen communication and collaboration with the international community to solve the problem of climate change and China will continue to make its contribution,” said the spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry. Hua Chunying.

In late March, the White House announced that Biden had invited both the Chinese president, among other international leaders Xi Jinping and Russian Vladimir Putin at the thematic meeting that would have been held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For years Beijing and Washington have been in disagreement on various issues, including trade and cutting-edge technology, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan. China, however, has repeatedly expressed, despite tensions, its desire to work with the United States to tackle the new coronavirus pandemic and global climate change.
