In the quarter-finals the blue got the better of the talented Kazakh: after a first set pulled and closed at the tie break, the 19-year-old South Tyrolean goes down 3-0 in the second before recovering up to 6 -4 final. A show of strength also rewarded by his opponent, who at the end of the game told him: “You are not human“.
In fact, Sinner has opposed his general balance, even mental, to the talented madness of Bublik, beaten already two weeks ago in Dubai. In the first set, which lasted 58 ‘, the blue goes under a break in the third game and is always forced to chase leaving the Kazakh also the opportunity to serve for the set, before reaching 5-5 and then 6-5 when he wastes a set-point. At the tie break, however, it ends 7-5, a sweat that is repeated also in the second set where Bublik with a break reaches 3-0 but the constancy and class Jannik’s comeback until the final 6-4 in 44 minutes.
On Friday Sinner, who with the semifinal in Miami equaled Fognini’s result in 2017 (when he was later beaten by Nadal), will face the winner of Medvedev-Bautista Agut. Already entered the top 30 with the quarter-finals, winning the semifinal could reach 24th place in the ATP ranking.
