An operation against the ‘Ndrangheta is underway today morning, Wednesday 5 May 2021, in Germany, Romania, Spain and throughout the national territory, coordinated by the Turin Anti-Mafia District Directorate (DDA), which involves over 200 women and men from the Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate (Dia) and about a hundred units of the State Police, the Carabinieri and the Financial Police with the support of dog units.

Numerous precautionary custody measures and searches are being carried out, issued by the Turin court at the request of the Piedmontese DDA and coordinated by the National Anti-Mafia Directorate, in Italy and Germany, against people deemed to be affiliated with the ‘Ndrangheta, active in the’ local ‘( the basic organization) of Volpiano, considered the economic terminal of the Agresta family of Platì (Reggio Calabria), as well as towards members of the Giorgi family, called Boviciani, of San Luca (Reggio Calabria), held responsible for international drug trafficking and active in Piedmont, Calabria, Sardinia and, in Germany, in the Land of Baden Württemberg, in the tourist resorts of Lake Constance

As part of the execution of the precautionary measures, Dia is operating, on the order of the Turin court, numerous preventive seizures of assets consisting of company compendia, cooperative and building societies, properties, vehicles, bank and postal current accounts, corresponding to a value per equivalent of several million euros. In particular, five companies operating in the catering sector are the subject of the measure; specifically, the Caffè Millechicchi roasting and the Vip’s ”bar in Turin, a tobacco shop in Volpiano, the GP Immobiliare company and the General Construction company, both of Turin.
