The Neapolitan Church and the whole Neapolitan ecclesiastical world in mourning for the death of don Claudio Colussa, parish priest of the church of Sant’Anna al Trivio, a stone’s throw from Piazza Nazionale, in the heart of Naples: the priest died at 69 due to complications due to Coronavirus. Many messages from the faithful who have appeared on social networks in these hours, but also many messages from other Neapolitan parishes, who wanted to pay homage to Don Claudio, expressing condolences for his passing. “May the Lord give him the reward of a good and faithful servant. I express full solidarity in the affection and prayer on the part of my community to the community of S. Anna al Trivio, which has lost its Shepherd”, writes, for example, the parish of San Carlo Borromeo at the Centro Direzionale.
“Our parish community joins the prayer and pain of our brothers and sisters of Sant’Anna al Trivio for the earthly separation from our beloved brother Don Claudio Colussa. Goodbye dear Claudio, see you at Jesus. Pray for us” he writes instead the parish of the parish of Santa Maria della Fede.
The message of the Diocese of Naples, who writes: “Merciful Lord, who entrusted your word and your sacraments to your servant Claudius, priest, in the time of his dwelling among us, grant him to rejoice forever in the liturgy of heaven”. Tomorrow, at 11.30, the ashes of the parish priest will be received by thearchbishop of Naples, Don Mimmo Battalgia, in the external space of the municipal hypogeum of the Nuovissimo di Poggioreale cemetery.
