(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 04 – Chocolate and vanilla are the ice cream flavors that collect the greatest consensus abroad. In Italy pistachio is the favorite, in front of stracciatella and hazelnut. The preferences emerge with the design of a European map of artisanal ice cream created by Deliveroo food delivery in some European countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Belgium and Spain where its delivery service is present. The survey was conducted by observing consumers’ tastes, preferences and habits when ordering ice cream at home.
The research highlights that in Italy Milan is confirmed as the capital of home-based ice cream, ahead of Rome and Florence.
Cagliari and Bergamo close the top 5 of the ice cream addicted cities. Among the emerging novelties in terms of tastes, “particular combinations and unusual ingredients capable of intriguing and stimulating the palate” are reported, including ricotta and figs, elderberry and nectarine peach, pineapple and ginger, salted peanut, netted melon, banana and lime , to name a few. From an economic point of view, on the other hand, in the peninsula, in the last 12 months, home orders for ice cream on the Deliveroo platform have tripled (+ 200%).
Outside of national borders, chocolate and vanilla seem to be the real passion in terms of taste, ranking first in France and Spain (chocolate) and the UK and Ireland (vanilla) respectively, and second only to pistachio in Belgium. Among the first places in terms of choice of flavors in Great Britain, Ireland, Belgium and Spain are “Cookie”, “Oreo”, “Speculoos” and “Dulce de Leche”. France, on the other hand, seems to prefer traditional tastes. (HANDLE).
