Moneglia – A 30-year-old lost his life this morning after climbing one rock face in Valletta, in Moneglia. According to what was reconstructed, the man, who was climbing the cliff with his 28-year-old companion, had reached the cliff to retrieve a rope that had fallen. Just at that moment, while he was on the rocks, he was swept away by a wave and was dragged into the sea. It has never re-emerged.
It was the companion, who had accompanied the young man during the climb, who raised the alarm, directly from the wall. The rescue operations, from sea and land, ended at 3 pm: the woman, who had been stuck on the cliff for a long time, was taken to safety and then accompanied by helicopter to San Martino. He is unharmed, but in shock.
