It happened yesterday afternoon: the man, a 36-year-old, first threatened passersby and then some policemen intervened to restore calm. The Nigerian was standing in front of Piazza dei Cinquecento when suddenly he began to brandish the knife, pointing it at passers-by. The alarm went off immediately and the area was cleared for police intervention.
The 36-year-old, surrounded by officers, began screaming, refusing to throw the knife and even threatening the cops. Suddenly, then, the man tried to escape but was blocked and disarmed a few meters ahead, in the area of the bus terminus. Arrested, the 36-year-old Nigerian is now accused of abusive carrying of weapons, aggravated threat and resistance to a public official.
