At least 20 people drowned when their wedding bus was run over on a bridge by a raging river in central Kenya. “Search and rescue operations continue, but so far 20 bodies have been recovered from the river,” said Joseph Yakan, police commander of the Mwingi East sub-county where the incident occurred. The official added that ten people were rescued. The exact number of passengers on the bus that fell into the flooding Enziu River, about 200km east of the capital Nairobi, is currently unclear. The vehicle was transporting church choir members and villagers to a wedding. Witnesses said the bus driver attempted to cross the bridge even though it was already flooded.
