(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, DECEMBER 02 – The European Commission has decided to continue the infringement procedure against Italy for failing to impose penalties for violating EU regulations that prohibit devices for manipulating car emissions.
Italy, Brussels acknowledges, has ordered the mandatory withdrawal of vehicles with software and other emission manipulation systems, but has not applied sanctions. On 17 May 2017, the Commission launched an infringement procedure against Italy. Today, the EU Executive announced that it had sent a request for a reasoned opinion, the second phase of the infringement procedure. (HANDLE).
