COVID: INTENSIVE CARE, the data on the admissions of vaccinated and NO-VAX have arrived. The details

The new RECOVERY DATA for CoronavirusL’increase in COVID infections in Italy it mainly concerns NO-VAX. Who is hospitalized in intensive care, without having received the anti-coronavirus serum, is equal to + 17%. This is what emerges from the report of the Fiaso, the Italian Federation of health and hospital companies, with the data relating to sentinel hospitals recorded on 30 November. “The trend of COVID hospitalizations is progressively growing and accelerating. In one week it increased by 16%, it is highlighted.

The data relating to intensive care is partially different in which patients grow at a slower rate. The hospitalizations in intensive care show an increase of only 7 units, equal to 9%, and it is exclusively about not vaccinated: in intensive care, unvaccinated patients increased by 17% while those vaccinated decreased by 10%.
The decrease in vaccinated in the intensive, despite the overall increase in hospitalized, it is a positive sign about the vaccine’s protection from severe forms. A total of 810 patients monitored by the Fiaso study compared to 697 on 23 November. The increase also appears to be accelerating compared to the last survey when the growth rate was slightly lower, equal to 11%.

In confirmation of the previous surveys, as also reported by the newspaper Republic, the average age is significantly lower among the unvaccinated: COVID positive patients who end up in hospital without having received a single dose of the vaccine they are 63.4 years old on average, unlike the vaccinated who are 74.7 years old. Furthermore, the presence of previous pathologies continues to be higher among those who have been vaccinated: among the vaccinated patients with comorbidities are 71% while 56% among the unvaccinated. The unvaccinated who are hospitalized, therefore, are on average younger and enjoy a better state of health.

In conclusion, the data seem to show that vaccination and early diagnosis positively and significantly influence the type of patients in need of hospitalization and intensive care and the outcome of the disease.
However, all prevention tools, including hand hygiene, mask use and respect for social distancing are still necessary if we are to reduce the impact of the disease in our community.
