He showed up with a fake police card, explaining that he was on the trail of some criminals who had slipped right into that building in the center of Milan during their escape. To convince the elderly couple, husband and wife aged 83 and 81, the scammer also faked a call to the operations center. Gained their trust, convinced the victims to let him into their apartment, to verify that the alleged fugitives had not hidden inside.

It is at that point that he manages to push them to open the safe, always with the excuse of making sure that everything was in order and nothing had disappeared. When the 83-year-old showed him the contents – gold and jewels with a total value of one hundred thousand euros – the fake carabiniere managed to steal them by claiming that he owed them bring them to the barracks to inventory them. Only later did the couple, who live in a building in the Monforte area, realize they had been duped and notified the police.
