Gkn. Minister Orlando: “We will be alongside the workers”. Called the table at Mise

Campi Bisenzio (Florence), 1 December 2021 – The air that reigns around the story of the Gkn. “We will follow” the workers, says the Minister of Labor, Andrea Orlando, after the company communicated the reopening of the collective redundancy procedure. “We will try to combat anti-work behavior”, the minister continues, speaking to Radio Capital. Unfortunately it was in the air that it would come to this. The workers had feared him for some time.

With a letter dated November 26 (and arrived the next day by registered mail), the property of Gkn writes that “we are forced to begin the legal procedure at the end of this month“. The letter – signed Gkn Driveline Firenze in liquidation, – is addressed to 422 workers to inform them of the current situation of the dispute. The property, compared to the past, declares itself very collaborative, making it clear that the dismissal procedure and the reindustrialisation of the site are two aspects that can coexist.

Called the table at Mise

The Gkn table is convened by videoconference at Mise for tomorrow, Thursday 2 December at 6 pm. All the parties involved, including the company, were invited to the table. The Region of Tuscany and the metropolitan city of Florence will also participate. It is “urgent to restart with the confrontation between the parties”, says the Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Alessandra Todde, after the company said it was ready to restart the collective dismissal procedure for the workers of Campi Bisenzio (Florence).
