The Eugenio Montale high school in the Gianicolense district is occupied. This morning about fifty students took possession of the branch in via Ettore Paladini. This is the seventeenth school occupied since the beginning of the year, the first of the week after the wave of recent days. New protests also in the Giordano Bruno institute at Bufalotta. The students try again and for the second time they occupy the school. A first attempt took place last Tuesday, but the plexus was cleared after a few hours. At the moment there are professors, parents and law enforcement officers in front of the institute’s headquarters.
We Montale high school students, following the example of the Manara and Morgagni high schools, have decided to occupy our Institute written in a document signed by the assembly of the occupants and addressed to the Ministry of Education, the Province, the prefect, the presidency, the school staff, students and parents. This act arises from the will of the majority of students, aware of the importance and weight of this protest action. The document of the Montale high school students faithfully follows the claims already expressed by Morgagni’s peers. From the data on early school leaving, to the critical evaluation regarding the division of funding of the NRP. Also the request for a permanent table with the prefecture and joint commissions for the right to education they are the same ones already presented by Morgagni’s students.
The document differs in the specific issues of the institution. The Montale boys complain about the absence of alternative subjects to the hour of religion, the difficulties linked to the staggering hours and the consequent inadequacy of the school services for those who having to go out at 3.40 pm must have lunch inside the school, but also chicken coop classes, the absence of extracurricular activities in the headquarters, structural problems and the presence of a dress code in the school considered discriminatory. We will carry out this occupation in full compliance with the anti Covid regulations in force – the occupants write – guaranteeing the obligation to wear a mask and show the Green Pass. We will also take care of tracking students iso as to be able to report to the Local Health Authority the necessary data in case of infections during the occupation.
