The agenda of the commitments of the royals of Belgium, expected on Friday 3 December in Milan, was very dense: from institutional visits to Palazzo Lombardia and Palazzo Marino to an economical working lunch at Villa Reale, from the Triennale to the Accademia dance school of the Scala. Up to an address certainly not usual for a state mission of two sovereigns: the Cam, the multifunctional aggregation center, of the Gratosoglio. But the trip to the city of King Philip and Queen Mathilde was postponed: “Given the evolution of the health situation in Belgium and Europe – is the official reason – it was decided in agreement with the Italian authorities to postpone the visit of It was expected in Italy from 1 to 3 December “.

The pandemic is once again dictated by the pandemic in relation to the royal family of Belgium. The three days of the sovereigns’ mission between Rome and Milan have turned into a flash visit: only King Philip, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sophie Wilmès and a small delegation, will fly to Rome for a meeting with the President of the Republic , Sergio Mattarella. No stop in Milan, however. And no lights on Gratosoglio. Yes, but why should the royals, accompanied by the mayor Beppe Sala ready to receive them also at Palazzo Marino, have to go to the edge of the city? The meeting organized at the Cam had a title: “Brussels meets Milan: history of a sustainable neighborhood”. In that part of the city, in fact, the University of Brussels and the Polytechnic of Milan collaborated on a study on sustainability. And it is with a view to a metropolis of neighborhoods that wants to try to involve all its spaces that the visit was organized.
