Although the new decree, and therefore the introduction of the super green pass, was voted unanimously by the Council of Ministers, there was no shortage of tensions at the government table. According to the rumors reported by Courier of Sara, the dialectically most heated clash would have taken place between Giancarlo Giorgetti e Mariastella Gelmini, with the former having raised his voice when the latter affirmed that the measures were the same as proposed by the Regions.
“It’s a lie”, the Northern League minister blurted out, according to which it is true that the governors – with Massimiliano Fedriga in the lead – had asked for the “strengthened” green pass, but only starting from the yellow zone and not also from the white one. “I simply reminded my colleague – was the explanation of Minister Gelmini – that the measure, net of white or yellow, had been widely treated and shared also by the center-right governors”. Beyond the tensions that occurred in the Council of Ministers, however, there was no split: no one was interested in pulling too hard.
And so in the end a compromise was found: yes to the super green pass also in the white area, but only for a limited time interval, which runs from 6 December until 15 January. Giorgetti spoke of a vote given “with a sense of responsibility”, while Fedriga remarked on the work of the League “to protect public health, economic recovery and the social stability of the country”.
