Thousands of people gathered in Vienna today to protest the government’s decision to impose a national lockdown to combat the spread of the coronavirus in the country. The protest was organized – among others – by the far-right party Fpoe, which has pledged to fight the new measures, but without the leader Herbert Kickl, who had a positive result at Covid. The demonstrators denounce the “crown-dictatorship”, “no to the division of society” recite some slogans. The lockdown in Austria will start on Monday and will last for at least 20 days. Most of the shops will remain closed and all cultural events will be canceled. As in the past, you can only leave the house for work, reasons of necessity and for physical activity. Austria has the lowest rate of coronavirus vaccines in Western Europe, with 66% of the population receiving both doses of the serum so far. Protests against anti Covid measures are scheduled for today also in other countries, including Switzerland and Croatia.
