Ok state aid for bus operators in Italy – Your Europe

BRUSSELS – The European Commission has approved one € 73 million Italian scheme to support bus operators affected by the coronavirus epidemic. The measure was approved under the temporary state aid framework.

The support, the Commission recalls in a note, provides for direct subsidies for the repayment of loan installments and for the purchase of new buses to companies that provide scheduled bus services, as well as companies that provide occasional bus services and that they do not receive compensation for public service obligation.

The Commission found that the scheme is in line with the conditions set out in the context of the pandemic emergency. In particular, the aid will not exceed € 1.8 million per beneficiary and will be granted by 31 December 2021.
