Kings of Convenience: after five years they return live to Milan

Years later and after a recording silence that could also resemble a breakup, here is the Kings of Convenience again, the Norwegian duo that twenty years ago was the leader of the so-called new-acoustic movement: their “Quiet is the new loud” (2001) gave way to a musical scene and a sudden and lasting success, thanks to crossings of acoustic guitars and light melodies able to gracefully combine Simon & Garfunkel choruses and contemporary sounds.

Today Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe go up on the stage of the Arcimboldi Theater, finally together and finally live, after the distance of the last few years: Glambek Bøe has in fact remained in his native Bergen, Erlend Øye is happily stationed in Syracuse, where he is in love with the Baroque and the Italian song of the Sixties: there he formed a project together with three Syracusan musicians – La comitiva – and began to compose and sing in our language.

Tonight’s concert is part of the King of Convenience tour linked to the new “Peace or Love”, a record released last June and with which the two Norwegian musicians have shown that they have not forgotten the art of songwriting. With the usual attitude and style, given that the approach of the album in question takes up the same acoustic and intimist approach of the early days. In short, we are on the safe side with singles such as “Rocky Trail” (the “Misread” license plate 2021?), “Fever” or “Angel”, songs that could not be more King of Convenience. The Milanese public responded with enthusiasm: good turnout for both concerts, scheduled at 1pm and 9pm today, for a double set that perfectly responds to the desire to return to listening to live music.

Teatro degli Arcimboldi, viale dell’In Tecnologia 20, today at 13.00 and at 21.00, 26.50 / 47.50 euro
