The sale of the Lingotto offices to MSC begins: the Rai skyscraper will be purchased with the proceeds

The Ipi Group has sold a portion of the Lingotto offices to Msc in Turin. The sale concerns about 9 thousand square meters of offices that were sold to a company of the group that deals with cruises and logistics to finance the purchase, also in the Piedmontese capital, of the Rai skyscraper near Porta Susa. The operation, explains the managing director of IPI, Vittorio Moscatelli, «is part of the strategy of reducing the concentration of IPI investments in a single complex. In fact, the Group continues to own over 36,000 square meters of offices, two hotels with 382 rooms, and 5,000 square meters of warehouses in the Lingotto complex. The sale is subject to the pre-emption right for 60 days due to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, since the Lingotto is subject to restrictions as an asset of historical-monumental interest. The sale price is 19.2 million euros and entails a capital gain of approximately 5 million euros ».

“The generation of cash from the sale will integrate the resources already available for the purchase of the so-called Palazzo Rai – explains Moscatelli -, its very heavy remediation of the asbestos that covers the entire supporting structure in steel and not only, taking on Ipi a substantial intervention for the environment, to then proceed, with an urban regeneration intervention, to the redevelopment of the iconic tower for the City of Turin, bringing it back to life and a reference point for the city given the position in front of the high-speed station and a short walk from the historic center “.
