There are those who cry on the phone. Who accuses. And who, as usual, takes refuge in the insult. In Democratic party morale is on the ground. The stop in the Senate of ddl Zan it is a tremendous blow that stunned the entire Democratic Party. The dem have invested, politically speaking, a lot, perhaps too much in this measure. And the rejection, which perhaps they did not expect but certainly does not surprise them, blew their nerves at the top. From Enrico Letta down, the decomposed reactions are countless.

The secretary of the Democratic Party was very upset. After hammering with the Zan bill for weeks at the beginning of summer, Letta had “forgotten” the rule for strategic calculation: it was too uncomfortable to talk about such a divisive issue as the vote for the administrative offices was getting closer and closer. Then, having collected the good result in the big cities, he decided to take the issue of LGBTQ rights out of the drawer again, convinced that the time was ripe for approval. And he went straight on, despite the warning sirens on the dancing numbers. But he miscalculated and hit the Palazzo Madama vote. To download your own responsibility – and the dem secretary has several – has chosen to tell a reality that he sees and is comfortable, only for him: “They wanted to stop the future. They wanted to bring Italy back. Yes, today they and their Inguacchi won in the Senate. But the country is somewhere else. And soon you will see“, he commented on Twitter shortly after the vote, also to hide under the carpet the fuss that has been unleashed in his party.

Because the situation in the Nazarene is very tense. The currents of the Democratic Party have split on the Zan bill: those who supported it with sword drawn – Monica Cirinnà and company – and those who, from the former group leader Marcucci to the pro-Lorenzians, pushed to the last to get back to work on a too divisive text. So, when the trap cut off the bill, the hunt for the culprit immediately started in the dem house. Valeria Fedeli, formerly a minister and a prominent name among the Democrats, she wasted no time and immediately began to point the finger: “Letta had assured me there were the numbers. You have to ask for the resignation of those who handled this affair, in the group and in the Justice Commission“. Then, putting down the hatchet (internal), she abandoned herself to despair and spoke on the phone to A sheep’s day, sobbing for a few seconds: “I am very sad, unfortunately it has not passed“, before breaking the connection.

Others have decided to rely on dear old men insults, so popular on the left when you collect a defeat but don’t want to admit it. It is the case of Laura Boldrini, former Speaker of the Chamber and good champion for all causes, who lashed out against the coalition that drowned the Zan bill: “There is a retrograde right, illiberal, compact and present as if it were one of the most important moments to block the debate, this makes us understand how much homophobia there is in this choice“. With all due respect to freedom of expression, threatened by article 4 of the text that was rejected. The only recognized freedom is to insult the opposing side. Boldrini has forgotten the evergreen” fascist “, then the series of offensive prejudices would have been complete.
