Eitan Biran must return to Italy: this is the decision of Judge Iris Ilotovich-Segal of the Tel Aviv Family Court. The sentence was issued today, in compliance with the deadlines established by the Hague Convention on abducted minors.

“The grandfather removed the child from his usual place of residence” wrote the judge, thus establishing that the child Eitan, the only survivor of the Mottarone tragedy, will have to return to Italy under the tutelage of his paternal aunt Aya Biran.

It is still unclear whether the child will have to return immediately, or whether the enforceability of the sentence will be suspended in view of the appeal that in all likelihood will be presented to the Tel Aviv District Court by the lawyers of Shmuel Peleg, the maternal grandfather who on 11 September took his grandson from the house in Pavia, leading him to Israel without the knowledge of the legal guardian.
