Next Gen Brooksby in Milan: he is a mathematician

Jenson Brooksby became the fifth player to qualify for the Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan, scheduled from 9 to 13 November, after reaching the semifinals of the European Open in Antwerp.
The 20-year-old from the US had only taken one tour win before the 2021 season. But this year he literally exploded, starting outside the Top 300 in the FedEx ATP rankings and climbing up to the current best ranking at No. 70 (which will become 59 on Monday).
“I have been hoping to finish the year playing the Next Gen ATP Finals for a while now.” Brooksby said. “Thanks to the way I played and improved, I thought it would happen. my place there. It will be a great tournament to finish the year, but I’m aiming for something more ”.
“It’s been a good year. After failing to play last year, I think I’ve made a lot of progress this season. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made mentally, physically and overall.”

Brooksby has scored many firsts this year, including racing to his first final on the ATP Tour at the Hall of Fame Open in Newport. He also made his first climb to the fourth round of a major at the US Open, where he defeated Taylor Fritz and Aslan Karatsev before losing to world number one Novak Djokovic in a hard-fought four-set match.
The Californian also reached the semifinals at the Citi Open in Washington, where he overtook NextGenATP star Felix Auger-Aliassime on his way to the semifinals. Earlier in the season, he had won three ATP Challenger Tour events.
Brooksby, who will make his debut at the Allianz Cloud ‘under 21’ tournament in Milan, joins the already qualified Jannik Sinner, Auger-Aliassime, Carlos Alcaraz and Sebastian Korda.
