The body in contemporary art. Not only represented, but directly acted, exhibited, sublimated, evoked, the body is present in over 100 works by 34 international artists of different generations, on display at Royal Palace in the exhibition “Corpus Christi. From the glorious body to the ruins of the soul“, Curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti. Among them, pioneers of Body Art such as Urs Lüthi and Gina Pane, frequent or occasional frequenters of body boundaries, actors of actions and performances, authors of installations, sculptures, drawings, paintings, videos and photographs that use the body as an instrument and material of ‘art. And that highlight its traces, memories, appearances, stereotypes and transformations. Like Franko B, Chen Zhen, Robert Gober, Antony Gormley, Christian Boltanski, Duane Hanson, Yael Bartana. Also on display is a due tribute to Lea Vergine who in the early seventies had investigated the relationship between art and body, mapping, censoring and narrating the first experiences of Body Art.
