Luca Aiazzi returns to the water and immediately puts three prestigious medals around his neck. The sixty-year-old athlete from Prato, who has been competing with the Canottieri Firenze for years by training in the waters of the Arno whenever he can, managed to take home two silver medals and one bronze at the recent Italian regulatory championships in Ravenna. . After the satisfactions obtained by competing in full pandemic with the electronic rowing machine, directly from the living room, finally Aiazzi was able to savor the adrenaline of a face-to-face competition and reiterated that he is one of the most gifted athletes among the Masters (and not only) . The athlete from Prato took the first silver medal home in the men’s Otto Yole Senior specialty, competing with Alessandro Brazzini, Massimo Carotti, Antonio Prosdocimi, Lorenzo Giovanardi, Antonio Pellegrino, Felice Andrea Negro, Paolo Taddei Pardelli and Niccolò Mancusi Lotti. The second silver medal, on the other hand, came paired with Laura Makovec of Canottieri Trieste in the Mixed Double Canoe Senior. In the third and last race sustained in these Italian championships, that of the Canoino Singolo Senior, on which expectations were higher, fatigue and some problems prevented Aiazzi from going beyond a good bronze medal. “I am really proud to have been one of the few athletes, out of over 900 registered, to participate in three different races so close and demanding. Unfortunately the single race, which was the one I cared about the most and on which I had the highest expectations. in order to be able to hit the first position, it was disputed after the other two “, says Aiazzi. “At that point, fatigue played a bad joke on me and I also had some problems with the trolley of the boat, so I was unable to express myself at my best and achieve the result I aspired to. For me it was still a great honor to be managed to take home three prestigious medals, even if the gold sharpness was missing. By virtue of his excellent performances as a Master athlete, however, Luca Aiazzi has been officially invited to participate in the qualification challenges for the absolute European championships that will take place in Donoratico starting from 28 October. “I will certainly participate in this prestigious competition. I cannot miss it. I still have to decide whether to compete individually or in doubles, in the company of some valid athlete from the Canottieri Firenze”, concludes Aiazzi. “Furthermore, at the end of November, I will certainly be at the starting desks of the Coastal Rowing in Monte Carlo, one of the most important international competitions in our discipline”. Just to not miss anything.
