The adventure of Carlo Calenda and his family immediately starts uphill after the elections for the new mayor of Rome. In Action, the alarm bell immediately went off on support for Roberto Gualtieri, who beat the center-right candidate Enrico Michetti in the ballot. In addition to the former minister, who should renounce his seat as MEP in Brussels to enter the Julius Caesar Chamber, there will be four other candidates on the Calenda list in Campidoglio: Valerio Casini, Francesca Leoncini, Flavia De Gregorio and Dario Nanni.

The problem arose due to the behavior of Casini and Leoncini, in orbit Italia Viva, who celebrated Gualtieri’s victory. A behavior diametrically opposite to that of Calenda and the other two loyal members who joined the Municipality, who immediately marked the territory in the past few hours: “We are in opposition, in a constructive but rigorous way. We will exercise our control function, for example over procedures, and we will make our contribution in identifying priorities. It is – Nanni told RomaToday – right that whoever wins has the honor and the burden of governing. We have achieved a great electoral result, but we will stand in the opposition, I repeat, in a constructive way. We have the best program and we will try to put our proposals on the table indicating which are the priorities for Rome ”. Leoncini instead spoke in another way: “We speak like Italia Viva, Renzi has undoubtedly supported Gualtieri”.

The exchange of views from a distance was not at all appreciated by Calenda, who sent a warning to his followers via a message on Twitter: “I remind all the elected members of the Calenda Mayor list that we have made the commitment, I repeat the commitment, with voters to remain in opposition. Constructive but firm. And the word given to the voters in these parts is worth more than that eventually given to their own parties ”. Is there already a split between Renzians and Calendians?
