Microsoft Flight Simulator: Game of the Year Edition (finally) with DX 12 support

Microsoft Flight Simulator: Game of the Year Edition the next will come November 18 and will bring the support to DirectX 12. This is a free update with new planes, 8 airports, various updates in the discovery flights section and new tutorials. Among the game innovations planned, also the Reno Air Races, a competitive multiplayer mode that will allow players to challenge online rivals.

This latest expansion content will be the biggest for Microsoft Flight Simulator in regards to additions to game modes. For Microsoftafter all, the months of November and December will be very important: among the many events we will have the celebration of 20 years of Xbox (November 15). There will also be launches of Forza Horizon 5 (November 9) and of Halo Infinite (December 8). Let’s not forget the upcoming Age of Empires IV (October 28) and the landing of Minecraft su Xbox Game Pass per PC (November 2).

But, as far as Flight Simulator is concerned, the most important news will be the arrival of the DirectX 12 version. As we had found in our performance analysis, in fact, despite the splendid graphics, the lack of support for DX 12 limited the performance of MSF.

Asobo, the software house that deals with Microsoft Flight Simulator, had already released a first update to improve the performance of the PC version. But, on paper, the new update should bring much more consistent performance improvements, optimizing the way the CPU is used and the distribution of workloads to the GPU.

Collaboration with Windows 11

Obviously Microsoft Flight Simulator does not forget the launch of Windows 11. To celebrate the launch of the new operating system, 11 locations around the world within MSF will be illuminated in blue Windows from 19 October to 18 November. In addition, there will be a special Windows 11 themed livery for theEXTRA 330LT to add to the collection.
