The Milanese pianist and composer and the young double bass player Margherita Carbonell protagonists of a double live: in the program exercises and pages by Giambattista Martini, Rodolphe Kreutzer, Giuseppe Tartini, Johann Mattheson, Domenico Scarlatti and Intra himself
MILANO – The pianist e composer Enrico Intra and the young woman double bass player Margherita Carbonell will be the protagonists of a double concert on the penultimate weekend of October: Friday 22 will perform on the stage of the Punto Beccaria Theater of the Cesare Beccaria Penal Institute for minors as part of the festival Jazzmi (live start at 7 pm; admission free; reservations: jazzmi.it/eventi/enrico-intra-margherita-carbonell-puntozero-teatro-beccaria), while Saturday 23 October will be on stage at the Chamber of Labor of Milan (5.30 pm; admission 10 euros with membership card for 5/10 euros) for the fourth appointment ofMusical Workshop, the review organized by the cultural association Secondo Maggio. On both occasions Enrico Intra will once again explore a new expressive dimension, introducing truly unique materials into his sound world, far removed from those of the American masters of song and jazz. These are pieces and exercises by classical authors, chosen from composers who worked between the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries (Giambattista Martini, Rodolphe Kreutzer, Giuseppe
Tartini, Johann Mattheson, Domenico Scarlatti), and by the Milanese pianist himself, of which fragments, cells and melodic periods will be used. Therefore Kreutzer’s name is not linked to the Beethovenian Sonata, but to the music of the great French violinist.
Of particular interest is the look at the exercises, that is the technical basis that every musician must possess in order to then develop his own poetic line. Naturally, the materials also determine the musical path and, therefore, Intra’s improvisations will head in new directions, will find singular relationships with written music, demonstrating how the universe of jazz can, as it has always done, feed on heterogeneous materials, without losing its characteristics of instant music and interplay. Intra, the great maestro of our time, will play first in solo and then in duo with the young double bass player Margherita Carbonell, to give life to a musical journey with unpredictable developments. Graduated in classical double bass and currently a student of the Civic Courses of jazz, Margherita Carbonell is a highly talented musician who knows and combines academic training with jazz. Consistent with the cultural and creative curiosity that distinguishes it, with this proposal whose extreme originality cannot escape, Intra will once again stimulate the listener to get out of the mental cages to open ourselves to the universe of musical possible that springs from contemporary practice. of jazz.
