For the left, the democratic alarm exists only when it comes to fascism or presumed such. This afternoon in Milan the presentation of the latest book by Renato Curcio, one of the founders of the Red Brigades, entitled “Cybernetic Identities”, is scheduled. Yet no right-thinking left-wing was scandalized by the presence of the red terrorist, sentenced to 30 years in prison (later reduced to 24) for moral complicity in voluntary murder in the death of two Missini militants.
The double standards of the left and of the circles adjacent to it is known, but in this precise historical moment it clashes even more. For a week, in fact, there has been a real witch hunt against publishers and authors considered to be of the right (and therefore, for the left, “fascists”). Last Wednesday, the controversy flared up over Edda Negri’s book on her grandmother, Rachele Mussolini, wife of the Duce. The local Democratic Party has even called into question the President of the Republic to have the meeting canceled. This one of the book on Rachele Mussolini, however, is only the latest episode in a long series. Still a few days in Casale Monferrato (Al) the Anpi went wild to index another presentation of a book published by Altaforte entitled “The left morality-The true face of antifascism”. The volume recounts the dark pages of the resistance.
The same ones that years ago cost insults and reprimands to Giampaolo Pansa, accused of revisionism only for having put pen to paper the hidden side of the partisan struggle, not always in accordance with the beatification made by official historiography. And that’s not all. Controversies have also affected the Book Fair currently underway in Turin. A couple of publishing houses, guilty of having published titles deemed right, have been put on the statute of limitations. Eclettica and Hydroplane have ended up in the viewfinder. The first would, according to the anti-fascist intelligentsia, be wrong in publishing right-wing authors. The second, even to have edited the diaries of the transoceanic overflights of Italo Balbo (moreover already published over the years by various publishers without any controversy). Both publishing houses, however, will continue to exhibit at the show.
In 2019 it went worse in Altaforte, a publishing house considered close to Casa Pound, forced to leave the Turin event before its opening. The witch hunt, however, is not limited to books. In the last hours in Milan the mayor Sala and the left of the city, would like to oust an exponent of FdI from the city council because it is considered “fascist”. On the presence of Renato Curcio in the same city, however, neither the mayor, nor the left, said a word. Not so Riccardo De Corato, member of the national management of the Brothers of Italy and regional councilor for security. «Curcio will come to give us a lesson on tops, according to him, the company of 2021 must be. It is shameful. What do the mayor of Milan and the center-left think of these nostalgic years of lead? ».
