In the last 24 hours, 1,002 deaths caused by COVID-19 have been recorded in Russia, the highest number among those reported daily since the beginning of the pandemic. There were 33,208 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 7,958,384. The total deaths since the beginning of the pandemic are 222,315, although according to many analysts the number is underpowered.

Restrictions in the country continue to be mild and uneven, and the vaccination campaign continues slowly. So far 34 percent of the population (about 50 million people) have received the first dose, and only 31 percent have completed the vaccination. New cases and deaths have been on the rise since mid-June. Between July and September, daily deaths never dropped below seven hundred. At the beginning of October they exceeded 800 and have steadily increased since then.
