The Draghi Government has launched a decree to establish controls and verifications two days after the entry into force of the obligation of the Green Pass in Italy also in the workplace. However, these rules do not eliminate some fronts of concern: from the risk of port blockages to the difficulties of organizing a large number of swabs.

There are fines for those who bypass or omit the controls and a maximum limit of 48 hours within which a company can request the certificate from its employee in advance. Whoever does not respect the decisions will stay at home without a salary. These are some of the rules with which the Government intends to accompany the entry into force of this extended obligation of the Green Pass, which is putting pressure on a minority, but still a substantial portion of workers. “There is still an important number of unvaccinated people throughout Italy, 8.4 million over 12 who have not received any dose of vaccine”, explains Nino Cartabellotta, president of the Gimbe Foundation.

Of these 8 million, according to the calculations of the Gimbe Foundation which monitored all the developments related to the pandemic, 4 would be made up of workers without vaccination: “If I have 4 million unvaccinated people, I have to release the swab to give them the Green Pass . Having to do 3 a week, it takes 8 to 12 million tests a week. That’s a number we can’t do. Today they do about 1.2 million a week. It is impossible for everyone to have a negative swab within 48 hours “.

Added to this problem are the threats of blockade by the dockers, from Trieste to Genoa, worlds of logistics where the no-vax percentage rises to 30%. Objective difficulties which, however, do not seem to stop the trajectory of a vaccination campaign, such as the Italian one, in terms of percentages, among the first in Europe.
