Weather Chronicle LIVE: ABRUZZO, SNOW storm on the MAIELLETTA. Video
A strong snowstorm has hit the Abruzzese Apennines in recent days: the video images were shot near Passo Lanciano at an altitude of 1750 meters. The dense snowfall accompanied by strong gusts of north-east wind is affecting the Gran Sasso and Maiella area, with temperatures that have dropped abundantly below zero above 2000 meters.
At Passo Lanciano, values between 0 ° C and -1 ° C were recorded but the “windchill” values (body cooling effect caused by the wind) reached peaks as low as -8 / -9 ° C. The purely winter scenery shows us the beauty of these Apennine towns in this early autumn.
But that’s just the appetizer! In the next few days, the approach of a new core of cold air from Northern Europe will favor the return of other snowfalls gradually at lower and lower altitudes: around mid-week the arrival of snow up to 1200-1300m is not excluded. in Abruzzo and Molise, over 1500m on the remaining Apennine areas of the Center-South.
