There are 1,301 new cases of Coronavirus registered in Sicily in the last 24 hours, 28,927 swabs carried out (between molecular and rapid tests) with a positive rate of 4.5%. Compared to last Saturday, the percentage is slightly down, while the victims were 24 and 675 healed. In hospitals, there is a slight increase in hospitalized patients under the ordinary regime: they are 6 more than yesterday, for a total of 1,216 patients. Intensive care, however, remains unchanged, with 189 people currently hospitalized.
As for the provincial subdivision of the new infections, Palermo is always the most affected with 458 registered cases. Catania follows with 186 and Agrigento with 172, then Ragusa 131, Messina 105, Syracuse 96, Trapani 74, Caltanissetta 53 and finally Enna with 26 new Coronavirus positives. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Sicilians affected by the virus have been 194,644, 5,152 dead and 164,015 healed. The current positives on the island are 25,477 (+602), of which 24,072 in compulsory home isolation.
New cases of Covid in Italy are falling: in the last 24 hours there were 15,370 compared to 15,943 yesterday; swabs are increasing and the positivity rate drops to 4.6%. The number of deaths is also down, they are 310 compared to 429 recorded yesterday, for a total of 116,676 since the beginning of the pandemic. The pressure on hospitals is decreasing: in intensive care there are 3,340 patients (26 fewer than yesterday, while 163 admissions of the day, against 199 yesterday), hospitalized with symptoms are 24,100 (643 fewer than yesterday).
The number of people in home isolation is today 477,868 (yesterday 478,629); the total of currently positive is 505,308 (down 1,430 compared to yesterday). The discharged / healed are 3,235,459, with an increase of 16,484. The regions with the highest number of new cases are Lombardy (2,546, yesterday 2,431), Campania with 2,232 (yesterday 1,994), Puglia with 1,525 (yesterday 1,537), Lazio with 1,378 (yesterday 1,474) and Sicily with 1,301 (yesterday 1,370). The total cases since the beginning of the pandemic are 3,857,443 (as of yesterday they were 3,842,079).
