Here we are! In a few weeks it will leave switch off already in many regions, forcing many Italians to change their television set or to buy a new decoder, in order to continue watching TV.
However, since this is an unwanted and compulsory expense for citizens, the Government has wanted, in a certain way, to meet it, providing for a subsidy that will at least help to cover the costs.
For this the bonus tv, also known as scrapping bonus, and the bonus decoder tv, appropriately explained both by the Mise website and by the Revenue Agency.
But be careful because the bonuses are limited. The Executive has in fact allocated sums, which although high, unfortunately will not go to cover the requests of all the Italians concerned.
Not to mention that in order to benefit from the bonuses indicated, it is still necessary to respect a few minimum requirementi, some of which also include a Isee limit within which to return.
So let’s see what the TV bonus consists of and how you can also buy a TV decoder completely free. We also try to explain what to do to apply for these benefits and what requirements are needed.
Switch off since October, that’s who it’s about
The much announced switch off about to arrive. We can begin the countdown, especially in those regions where the transition to the new frequencies will start in a few weeks.
The new transmission technologies DVB-T2 they will use the new 5G, ensuring higher quality and definition. An innovation therefore that will bring benefits to all users, except obviously in the pockets of all those who will be forced to change TV or decoder.
The Mise also promises that the direct consequence of this change will be the increase in the offer, in terms of channels, in addition to the increase in the number of TVs connected to the internet. It would therefore seem apparently more the advantages than the disadvantages. But is it really so?
In the meantime, let’s find out which regions will be the first to be affected by the switch off.
An important date to mark on the calendar is October 15. In fact, starting from this day, the television broadcasters will have the right to start migrating to the new frequencies. And this step will affect all regions without distinction.
The Rai, for example, the October 20 with its 13 thematic channels (Rai Premium, Rai 5, Rai Storia, Rai Sport, Rai Scuola, Rai 4, Rai Movie, Rai Premium, Rai Gulp, Rai YoYo, Rai 1 HD, Rai Sport + HD, Rai 2 HD, Rai 3 HD), to then proceed subsequently with all the other channels. But we are talking about the beginning of 2022.
With regard to Mediaset, the first channels to change frequency, as indicated by QuiFinanza, are: TGCOM24, Mediaset Italia 2, Boing Plus, Radio 105, R101 TV, Virgin Radio TV.
All the remaining channels will continue to be seen, following the road map for shutting down the various regions.
All the dates with the stages of the progressive swuitch off of the old frequencies are indicated by The day:

Bonus TV, when scrapping your old TV
In order to be sure that you have to replace your old TV or have to buy a new decoder, you need to do a little bit first verify.
First of all for the tvs purchased before December 22, 2018 the necessity of their scrapping is practically certain, with the possibility therefore of being able to exploit the bonus tv.
If the TV was purchased after the date indicated, it is advisable to check, for safety, whether it is set up for the new technological standards.
Just make a simple one test on Mediaset channels 100 and 200. If by going to these channels it is already possible to see the broadcasts or if the message “Test Hevc main 10” appears, then the device is already enabled and it will not be necessary to replace it. Otherwise the alternative is change tv or buy a decoder.
Bonus tv, how to get it and what it consists of
For all those who will be forced to buy a new TV, financial aid is provided, which is generically called “Bonus tv”. However, it is necessary to clarify to make users understand what it is exactly and how to get it.
A simple guide that clearly summarizes everything about this initiative can be found on Nicolò Cumerlato’s Youtube channel:
One of the possibilities made available by the Government is the TV scrapping bonus, which provides one discount up to 20% on the amount of the new TV, up to a maximum of 100 euro, and without any isee requirements.
It is enough to be an Italian citizen and have a residence in Italy.
A discount can be added to the discount.further discount of 30 euros, for a maximum total of 130 euro. But the addition of the additional discount is valid only for those who also have an indicator isee less than 20,000 euros.
The bonus can apply not only to in-store purchases but also for online purchases, after due verification. The interested party must therefore inform himself that the product he intends to purchase falls within the concession and that the retailer has joined the initiative.
However, the fundamental requirement is scrapping of the old TV, which must be disposed of properly.
The user, therefore, who intends to purchase a new television set by taking advantage of the bonus, must either hand over the old television to the seller for disposal, or must present a self-certification in which he declares that he has scrapped the television in one of the special ecological islands.
In the case of an online purchase, the seller must also have a physical store where you can demonstrate the scrapping or bring the TV to be scrapped. Amazon and Ebay must therefore be excluded.
Bonus tv, how to buy a decoder without spending
The data speak of as many as 15 million devices that Italians will have to replace, compared to about 250 million allocated for the TV bonus.
Many users will therefore have to bear this unexpected expense. However, instead of buying a new TV, it is also possible to buy a latest generation decoder. This possibility can be decidedly convenient!
In this regard, the Government has provided, in addition to the TV scrapping bonus, also a bonus tv- decoder, which provides one discount up to 30 euros on the purchase price. And in this case it is necessary to have a Isee less than 20,000 euros.
This way you have a chance to buy a decoder for free or almost, according to your needs. In fact, there are some models that reach precisely the amount made available by the Government, or at most slightly exceed the amount, thus facing a minimum expense.
Even some types that cost 30 euros can also be found. Also in this case the expense will be completely free, not necessarily having to reach the bonus figure.
The decoder bonus, like the scrapping bonus, will be available until resources are exhausted, and in any case no later than December 2022. The two bonuses are also compatible and cumulative.
For decoders, however, there is no possibility of scrapping the old device.
In order to take advantage of the bonus decoder, those interested must download thespecific form from the Mise website (different from that of the TV scrapping), which represents a kind of self-declaration in which to indicate that you are back below the Isee threshold and that you have not already benefited from the bonus in the family unit to which you belong.
Obviously, any false declarations will be held criminally liable, since the competent administration may reserve the right to carry out checks at any time.
TV bonus and Rai license fee
In addition to the few and simple requirements indicated, in order to take advantage of the TV bonus, whether it is intended as a TV scrapping bonus or as a decoder bonus, it is necessary to have complied with a further requirement.
Users must indeed be up to date with the payment of the Rai license fee.
Alternatively, if you were to fall into one of the fee exemption, it is necessary to demonstrate that you are entitled to the exemption of the same, without losing the right to benefit in any case from the benefit in question.
Let’s think for example of the case of those over 75 years old.
Tv bonuses, advantages and disadvantages
If so far we have analyzed the characteristics of the TV bonus, let’s now try to understand how convenient it is or not to benefit from it.
Definitely, as far as buying a decoder is definitely advantageous, being able to buy it, as we said, without spending anything or spending only a few euros.
As for the TV scrapping bonus, it could not be convenient for everyone. Since the discount can in fact reach 130 euros in total, but compared to a TV of a cost of 500 euros, not everyone would like and could spend that much for the purchase of a television.
Not to mention that possibly buying a tv without bonuses on websites such as Amazon or Ebay, could allow you to save much more, given that on these ecommerce you can also find real bargains, with really bargain prices and lower than what you would spend using the TV bonus.
The choice therefore on whether or not to use this facility must be based on a subjective assessment that each user will have to make, based on how much he intends to spend for the purchase of a new generation television.
