A great success was achieved yesterday, Saturday 9 October, for the 15° Milan Trophy. The regularity race for vintage cars and motorcycles organized by CMAE Club Milanese Vintage Cars has in fact celebrated its fifteenth edition with a return in style within the autumn calendar of Milanese events, winning the favor of classic enthusiasts and the general public in emblematic places in the heart of Milan.
“We are very happy with how this edition took place, an important return for us on the scene of the reference events for the city of Milan” – underlines the CMAE Board of Directors “We thank the participants, because they are the ones who allow us to keep alive the event and enrich it year after year! With the Milan Trophy the CMAE is finally back on track, paving the way for a calendar of new appointments to continue sharing together the passion for these vintage jewels”.
The event featured a varied parterre of participants, composed not only from gentlemen drivers, but which also stood out for the presence of female and young crews, all animated by the same enthusiasm and passion. Upon departure fromthe Snai San Siro Hippodrome in Milan, one of the most prestigious and iconic in the world, took part 78 cars and various motorcycles of particular interest, selected cars with a timeless charm that celebrated the history of international motoring up to the 1970s.
After the technical checks, the crews continued the route on secondary roads, in search of fascinating glimpses of Lombard life with destination the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum of Arese, to be able to compare in action on the test track and then indulge a pleasant lunch break. As per tradition, the crews tested their skills in several regularity and skill tests carried out strictly with hand-held chronometers, in the spirit of the past.
In the early afternoon the cars left for Milan for thetriumphal arrival in parade at the Castello Sforzesco. AND in this suggestive setting that the cars, once positioned, remained on display until the first light of sunset: for the Trophy the entire Piazza d’Armi, the vital heart of the Castle, has turned into a Open-air museum dedicated to these period jewels, offering an unmissable opportunity to relive past times, with legendary charm.
The gala dinner
In the evening the gala dinner in the characteristic courtyard of the Rocchetta, a unique location within the spaces of the Castle, where thecrew n.28 composed of Matteo Carbone and Parasmo Virginia was awarded as winner of the fifteenth edition of the Milan Trophy, aboard a 1957 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Touring.
Among the various winners, the couple formed by Airighi Anna e Airighi Giannina (n.51), first classified among the crews of “Dame” with theirs Alfa Romeo Giulia SS from 1963 e the crew n.42 of Rocco Niccolò and Rocco Massimo winners of the Youth category driving a Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Sprint from 1962.
The 15th edition of the Milan Trophy saw the contribution of various sponsors, in particular Breitling, a prestigious Swiss luxury watch brand who has been supporting CMAE for years, marking the time of this prestigious event as official timekeeper.
On the occasion of this edition of the Trophy, Breitling presented in Italian preview at the exclusive Breitling Lounge at Castello Sforzesco the Top Time Classic Cars Capsule Collection The line represents a modern-retro reinterpretation of three racing chronographs inspired by as many icons of American automotive culture: the Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang and Shelby Cobra, models present at the event, even without taking part in the competition.
With a view to a more conscious approach in the field of protection and sustainability, the Trofeo Milano this year has become a Carbon Neutral event: in fact, with the aim of compensating the environmental impact caused by the circulation of the historic participating cars, at the end of the event the organization will plant in selected areas of the Lombardy territory of trees able to neutralize the emission of Co2.
