After 60 years, PerugiAssisi has restarted from the very place where Aldo Capitini gathered the people who made the first Peace March in 1961, Giardini del Frontone in the Umbrian capital, a few meters from the traditional starting point in via San Girolamo. To open the great snake of participants, practically all with masks, a large flag of peace and the boys of the comprehensive institute Sinalunga and the University of Padua who were given the task of carrying it up to the Rocca Maggiore in Assisi.
“I Care”, the slogan chosen for this edition that celebrates 60 years, accompanied by the inscription: “Cura is the new name for peace”.
This year the key word is Don Milani’s warning, intended as taking care of the new generations, of the planet, of democracy.
An event that has returned to mobilize thousands of people from all over Italy around peace and human rights.
Ten thousand registered to participate in the start, not counting the free adhesions, the organizers underline.
“Because there is a desire to return to march for peace and rally around important issues” as was stated by the stage set up for the initial speeches of PerugiAssisi. (HANDLE).
