The Vatican Tribunal, in the trial for the abuse of the Preseminary that hosts the ‘altar boys of the Pope’, has decided to acquit the two defendants, Don Gabriele Martinelli and Don Enrico Radice. For some crimes they are acquitted, for others not punishable, for still others the limitation has intervened.
The Pg had asked for 6 years of imprisonment for the first and 4 for the second. The sentence is at first instance and an appeal is possible.
The main accused in the trial for the abuse of the Pope’s altar boys, Don Gabriele Martinelli, was acquitted because “he lacks proof” that he committed violence against the victim, says the Vatican Court, chaired by Giuseppe Pignatone.
“The Court ruled that sexual relations, of various nature and intensity, between the accused and the injured person must be considered established” and instead “the evidence is lacking to affirm that the victim was forced into such relations by the accused with the contested violence or threat “.
