There are 321 new cases of Coronavirus registered in Sicily in the last 24 hours out of 16,368 swabs processed, with a positivity rate of 2%. The descent of the epidemic curve continues on the island, with the incidence of infections per 100 thousand inhabitants falling to 52. In the last week, cases have fallen by 20%. Another 10 victims (5 relating to 2 October, 4 to 3 October and 1 to 29 September) while 560 are healed.
Hospital admissions are also decreasing: there are 409 patients in the Covid medical area, 27 less than yesterday; instead, in intensive care 49 beds (-1) are occupied and in the last 24 hours there is only one new entry into resuscitation. This is the subdivision by province of the new cases today: Catania 115, Siracusa 44, Palermo 42, Trapani 41, Agrigento 35, Messina 25, Enna 12, Ragusa 4 and Caltanissetta 3.
The slow decline of the epidemic curve continues also in Italy. The new cases are 2,466, against 2,985 of last Tuesday. The positivity rate drops to 0.8%, the lowest since last June. The deaths are 50 (yesterday 37), for a total of 131,118 victims since the beginning of the epidemic. Hospitalizations are decreasing: ICUs are 4 fewer (yesterday +6) with 18 admissions on the day, and down to 433, while ordinary hospitalizations are 66 fewer (yesterday +41), 2,968 in total. This is what emerges from the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health.
The region with the most cases today is Veneto (+363), followed by Sicily (+321), Lombardy (+288), Lazio (+221) and Emilia Romagna (+169). The total cases are 4,686,109. The healed are 4,210 (yesterday 2,446), for a total of 4,464,692. The number of currently positives continues to decline, 1,797 fewer (yesterday 871), and they are 90,299. Of these, 86,898 patients are in home isolation.
