From the partnership between Citroen, Accor and JCDecaux a creative project was born that saw gradually take shape what could be the means for the mobility of the future. Let’s talk about Citroen Skate, an innovative self-driving electric four-wheeler that could become the solution to decongest traffic in large cities in the future.
Presented by Citroen as a revolutionary vehicle, Citroen Skate maximizes the use of autonomous driving technology by multiplying the service offerings. After launching the New C5 X also in Italy, the French manufacturer has designed an electric prototype that looks like one four-wheeled platform capable of transforming itself as needed to be a means of travel, but also a convenient vehicle for delivering packages, meals and, why not, even mobile telework rooms.
With Citroen Skate, the Rueil-Malmaison designers have indulged in the search for style and shapes never seen before, exclusive and never banal. In fact, the concept is based on the idea of rendering the shared and multifunctional vehicle, therefore capable of meeting every need of the end user. For this, over sixty “Pods” have been designed, that is different applications for the “skate” of the French company that aims at safe mobility, as already shown with the new Citroen C3 Aircross SUV.
Just under 40 centimeters tall, Citroen Skate is designed to revolutionize the mobility of the future. According to what was declared by the transalpine company that presented it in Paris, the vehicle must circulate on dedicated lanes and at a speed not exceeding 25 km / h. Looking at the technical specifications, Citroen’s “platform” will be equipped with “Advanced Comfort” hydraulic suspension and custom-designed motorized spherical wheels designed by Goodyear for 360-degree maneuverability.
Vincent Cobée, CEO of Citroen, said he was enthusiastic: “At Citroen we look at medium and long-term trends to anticipate consumers’ expectations and needs. We believe that this new concept can redefine the context of urban travel: shared, electric and autonomous“.

The model is in fact ready to rewrite open-source mobility, presenting it as a real robot at the service of the community. The basic idea is in fact to circulate the electric four-wheeler through the streets of large cities without a driver, autonomous and interconnected, which travels silently and improves traffic fluidity by at least 35%.
