CASINA. The cyclist Ivano Filippi arrived in Istanbul, who covered the entire route from Casina to the Turkish metropolis alone. The 64-year-old left Casina on the afternoon of September 1st and arrived on Monday, September 27th, after 27 days of hard work. He traveled 2,470 kilometers, averaging 91 per day.
We asked the former banker to tell us about his adventure: «I arrived in Istanbul, a city already visited in the past, where you discover a magical dimension that always fascinates and excites you. Now I’m here again, arrived with my indestructible Trek, my travel bags, my fears but also my dreams. I brought “Camilla’s wings” with me and I’m sure Camilla flew with me here in Istanbul. It was an exciting journey, an exciting adventure. I cycled for 27 days, traveled exactly 2,470 kilometers, crossed 7 states (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece and Turkey), and discovered and admired incredible places, met different people, a little strange but always kind. I sincerely thank all those who supported me, the numerous friends who encouraged me, wrote, even phoned me, worried about knowing how I was and how the situation around me was. Thanks to my cycling group “i Tornanti” for the continuous support and, finally, a warm thought to my family, I hope to embrace you again soon. Alessandra I’m coming! A goodbye and to hear from the next adventure ».
Ivano is no stranger to such ventures: he has been to Paris, the North Cape and other locations. A retired banker, in addition to this great passion, cycling, he is also a triathlete, swimming, running and other disciplines. He also participated in some marathons. In the past he swam the Strait of Gibraltar, the Strait of Bonifacio from Sardinia to Corsica, and above all the Lochness lake, where, however, after 8 hours of swimming, he had to retire due to the cold and adverse conditions. Now he counts this further extraordinary feat among his best memories. Return by plane with his faithful bike.
