Although Windows 11 will be released on October 5th, Microsoft will continue to follow and support Windows 10 for years to come. The operating system will be updated to version 21H2 later this year, and what should be the final build already available for download in preview version for users enrolled in the Insider program.
At the moment, the build “release candidate” di Windows 10 21H2 available for “seekers” in the version-specific Release Preview channel, while users can also receive its builds in the Beta channel, if they have a computer that is not compatible with Windows 11. Remember that “seekers” are simply all users who control manually the availability of new updates.
The development of Windows 10 21H2 has already been blocked with regard to the introduction of new features, and in fact does not introduce major changes compared to the version of the first half of the year but mainly minor optimizations. The final build should be there 19044.1263, the same available in the Release Preview channel, of which Microsoft has already released ISO files for clean installation (it can be downloaded here, by Insider users).
Windows 10 21H2, the release ready and the final build available for Insiders
Microsoft, however, is still committed to eliminating the bugs that will arise in the final stages of the tests, so it is likely that following the release of the new version we will see a big cumulative update in a few weeks.
Windows 10 21H2 should arrive in October for the very first users, but the roll-out is likely to push until the first months of 2022. The update should introduce some optimizations, support for external cameras on Windows Hello, and various improvements for applications proposed natively. The Microsoft Store app should also receive important graphic changes, but these will not yet be present at day-one.
