The victim is an experienced worker, Roberto Bovi, 40, an employee of E Distribuzione, a company that deals with measurement and supply of energy.

On Sunday, shortly before 2 pm, he intervened in Palù, in the Veronese area, due to a fault in a pylon. Once the electricity was turned off in the affected area, he went up, started repairing the infrastructure but was struck by lightning. Colleagues sounded the alarm. The firefighters intervened immediately, but it was not possible to recover the body, which remained attached to the cables at a height of six meters, because it continued to rain. The recovery took place in the evening, after 21.

To understand why the worker, with 20 years of experience, did not interrupt the intervention when the storm came. Bovi, residing in Tregnago, also in the Veronese area, lived with his partner.

According to the calculations of the Vega Engineering Occupational Safety Observatory of Mestre, already in the first seven months of 2021 in Veneto there was an increase in fatal accidents at work by 15 percent compared to the previous year. The province of Verona is black jersey.
