A strong jolt of earthquake was warned in Greece, and in particular in the area of Chalk, where the epicenter was located.
The event occurred at 08:17 Italian time.
According to the data preliminary of the Euro-Mediterranean Center (EMSC), it would have been an earthquake magnitude 6.2 (Mwp 6.1 according toINGV), located 10 km southeast from Ano Arhanes and 21 km south-southeast from Irákleion (Heraklion, also known as Heraklion), about 2 km deep.
The EMSC also reports 2 replicas, magnitudes 3.7 and 4.8.
The first damage and the first collapses have been reported in the areas near the epicenter.
