Charles Leclerc went very close to the goal of taking home a few points from the Russian GP 2021, stage of the F1 World Championship staged on the Sochi circuit, but unfortunately the rain peeped out in the last five laps and the Ferrari driver, who had started in penultimate position, paid the duty. In fact, the Monegasque did not immediately return to the pits to mount the wet tires, the water fell copiously and his race was literally ruined, so much so that he finished in fifteenth position.
Charles Leclerc expressed all his disappointment to the microphones of Sky Sport F1 and has explained why he did not immediately return to the pits to change tires: “I didn’t want to mess up the same lap with Sainz’s entry, the next lap was too late because the water had come very strong and it was too late“.
The disappointment is palpable and morale is really low: “I can’t see anything positive, unfortunately I’m not happy today. The new power unit is certainly positive for the team, but after such a race I ended up behind. Bravo Carlos (Sainz, ed), he finished in front of McLaren and he’s good, but I don’t see anything positive for me“.
