He had to wait 19 years, but he did it: Italy triumphed in Motocross of Nations thanks to Tony Cairoli, Mattia Guadagnini e Alessandro Lupino. A particularly exciting success because it arrived at home, on the Mantua track, where Italy closed in the flood ahead of Holland and Great Britain. Only fifth is France, sixth is Belgium. With the latter we go up to three world titles: we won the first one in 1999 in Brazil, in 2002 we repeated it in Spain and now we have dropped the trio in Mantua.

Special joy for Tony Cairoli, in the year of his farewell to racing, which is in addition to the 9 titles, 93 victories and 177 podiums brought to the notice board in almost 20 years of Motocross. Curiosity: the historical 222 will be withdrawn, Cairoli took to the track with the n.46 by Valentino Rossi, who apparently brought him luck …
