As scheduled, Sony and the curators of the PlayStation Blog have officially kicked off the celebrations for The Last of Us Day 2021 and unveiled all the initiatives related to Naughty Dog’s iconic intellectual property.
The program drawn up by the Californian subsidiary of PlayStation Studios and the representatives of SIE embraces various activities that involve fans. The first of these initiatives concerns the launch of Covers and Rarities, a vinyl made in collaboration with Mondo and currently streaming on Naughty Dog’s social channels. The limited edition vinyl features reinterpretations of the TLOU 2 soundtrack by Dani Pendergast, Ashley Johnson (Ellie), Troy Baker (Joel) and Chris Rondinella, complete with a special message from the director Neil Druckmann. The vinyl pre-orders are available from today, September 26th, on the Mondo website; the streaming version is also expected to launch on the evening of September 26 on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and Tidal.
Coinciding with the The Last of Us Day 2021 the new commemorative statue of Dark Horse dedicated to the Joel of The Last of Us Part 2. This reinterpretation of the hero of the first chapter of The Last of Us series is fully equipped and offers various accessories, such as the gun and the guitar. Pre-orders of the TLOU 2 Joel statue are already available and will be available until October 29 on the Dark Horse website, with shipments scheduled in the time window that will run from May to July 2022 based on the booking queue.
Also for The Last of Us Day 2021, the exclusive merchandising offer available on the PlayStation Gear Store. The Sony store catalog features a waxed canvas backpack, a Stormtech Waterfall Insulated rain jacket with laser engraved patch, Taylor picks and new themed straps. The list of new additions to the PS Gear Store is also enriched by the GS Mini and 314ce guitars and the WLD jacket. Until September 30, all The Last of Us and The Last of Us 2 themed merchandising products will be available for purchase with a 20% discount on the usual list price.
The latest initiative announced by Sony for TLOU Day involves The Last of Us Remastered e The Last of Us Left Behind: Until September 27, the two titles will be available for purchase on PlayStation Store with one 50% off%. At least for the moment, therefore, both Sony and Naughty Dog prefer not to reveal their plans on the rumored TLOU 2 multiplayer projects or on other games set in the same post-apocalyptic dimension.
